About:

Sexually transmitted Infections (STIs) are infections passed between humans through sexual contact. This can be any oral or genital contact and can also be passed indirectly through the use of toys or aids.

What we offer:

The best treatment for STIs is prevention.  This can be best achieved by using condoms and having regular sexual health screening.  Health screening and vaccination are an opportunity to prevent many gynaecological problems. Sexual health screening is important in preventing the consequences of sexually transmitted infections and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). A comprehensive screen can be performed during a single visit with results available within a few days. Any results are completely confidential and can be relayed directly by text, telephone or follow up visit, depending on your preference.

A newly developed vaccine against high risk forms of HPV (known to be associated with the development of cervical cancer) is now available. A full course of the vaccine requires a total of 3 injections at 0, 2 and 6 months. National recommendations are that all girls between 12 and 13 years receive vaccination. We can offer the vaccination to anyone who has not already had it.

We offer routine annual or triennial gynaecology/’well woman’ check ups, which involve a full examination, blood pressure and urine check, cervical smear, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) test and vaginal ultrasound. Blood tests may sometimes be recommended to complete this process.
