An excellent meeting arranged over 4 days. 1250 delegates from all over India and 25 faculty from round the world. Dr. Chris Barnick attended as faculty and Dr. Alison Wright as a Vice President of the RCOG.

Initiatives to reduce maternal deaths in India include education and empowerment of women, an increase in the number of midwives, an improvement in facilities, better management of labour and in the particular the second stage. Avoidance of unnecessary Caesarean Section more training in instrumental vagina delivery and treatment of Post Partum Haemorrhage (PPH).
There were many discussion on HPV vaccination, cervical and ovarian cancer, endometriosis and pelvic floor disfunction.
Dr. Chris Barnick had the privilege to lecture on both the evidence base for the treatment of Adenomyosis and the treatment of stress incontinence. Alison spoke on the treatment of epilepsy in pregnancy, and the dying art of instrumental vaginal delivery. We were both involved in running a workshop on the management of Obstetric emergencies.
The content of all the presentations was of extremely high quality and there was a very useful exchange of information.
A most enjoyable’ enlightening and educational few days.
