Our aim is to guide, support and care for you throughout your pregnancy and birth, including the postnatal period, as long as you need.
Caesarean section
At ObGyn Matters we are keen to promote choice for women. Most women will choose to try and have as natural a birth as possible, however, an increasing number of women are now making an informed choice to have an elective caesarean section.
Baby care
There is a resident paediatrician (baby doctor) at the Portland hospital 24 hours a day. This paediatrician will attend the birth of your baby if requested and is available 24/7 for any emergencies.
Early pregnancy scans
Early pregnancy scans are a fantastic way to start your pregnancy journey. They are usually performed between 6 and 10 weeks where we can first see your baby’s heartbeat.
Obstetric ultrasound scanning
Obstetric scans are performed from 10 weeks until the end of your pregnancy. They will give you the first look at your baby and also make sure your baby is healthy throughout the pregnancy. You can request pictures of your baby at any time.
Antenatal care
Women can be seen by any of our five Consultants, depending on personal choice. The team cover each other and also work closely with other Consultants at the Portland to ensure that there is a Consultant available at all times.
Vaginal birth
Our team of Consultants have extensive experience in delivering babies, they all continue to work in busy central London NHS hospitals where the populations are multilingual and multi-ethnic; where women choose natural childbirth but where high risk cases are also a frequent event. This ensures that they can all give the best possible care to low risk women but are also able to respond promptly and appropriately when emergencies occur.

We believe that we should always do our very best to make every birth a memorable and wonderful experience that can be fondly remembered in the long term.
Pregnancy Packages
At ObGyn Matters we offer a number of different pregnancy packages and are also happy to see pregnant women for one off appointments. The package price we can offer you will depend on how far advanced the pregnancy is advanced and what sort of care you would like to have.
